HOLIDAY MOTORCYCLE GIFTS FROM TODDLERS TO TEENS

2020 - What a year it has been! A year full of health concerns, grim headlines, political trauma, and the list goes on. Before we say goodbye to a year that feels like it has lasted more than 12 months, we need to deal with another headache that is all too familiar - the holiday shopping season.

Here’s a quick guide on motorcycle-related gifts for toddlers to teens, aimed at reeling them into the hobby and perhaps even the lifestyle. The goal is to pick items that you wouldn’t easily stumble upon in a motorcycle dealership gift shop.

Lego Sets

I didn’t grow up with Legos, so I don’t understand the fascination behind them, but it’s obvious that they are super popular all around the world.

The company luckily provides a variety of different sets that are centered around motorcycles. Its most popular motorcycle kit is probably the Harley-Davidson “Fat Boy”. I tried putting it together once, and it was an adventure to say the least! If Harley isn’t your family’s style, there’s also a variety of street bikes, firefighter bikes, police bikes, and for Marvel fans - Spider-Man and his motorcycle!

These sell out fast, so if you can’t find it online, you’ll have to dig through the shelves at your local retailer or search to support a small business toy store.

Retro Motorcycle Video Games

What’s old is new again, and that makes for a desirable item. Retro video games of the 80’s and 90’s are still in hot demand. An old cartridge-based video game can make the perfect gift.

Two classic games based on motorcycles that were extremely popular, are “Excitebike” (arguably the most popular classic motorcycle game) and “Road Rash”. You can find the game cartridges or the complete original box sets for any avid gamer.

I recommend going to a local vintage gaming store for help with this. If you live in New Jersey, check out “Digital Press” or “The Game Zone” for guidance.

Electric Balance Bike

Electric Balance Bikes are great for kids, especially young ones! They are safe, innovative, and revolutionize the way they learn how to ride. They are lightweight and non-intimidating. Not only will kids love an electric balance bike, but they will attain balance control and confidence early on, making them feel like a badass!

The catch - they’re super expensive and kids can grow out of them pretty fast. I think these are excellent gifts for children, but the price tag is understandably a big hurdle.

Consider putting this gift idea on the back burner for now if it isn’t financially best for you. You never know when a used one may pop up on Facebook Marketplace for a lot cheaper.

Cycle Source Magazine Subscription

Knowing is half the battle. YO JOE!

This may sound like a crazy notion … but while we appreciate people enjoying blogs like this about motorcycles … you can still learn a lot from trusted magazines. Good for people of all ages - the magazine spotlights custom bikes, “how-to” tricks, special events, and my favorite part: shop dogs, because we all need more dogs in our lives!

Check them out at www.cyclesource.com for a subscription gift.

Digital Rider Education Courses

The best gift you can give someone that rides a motorcycle is the skills to ride that bike.

While it’s tricky to sign up for a Rider Education Course during the pandemic, which is something you can buy in advance locally, there are a lot of materials you can get for someone.

There are three popular YouTubers who teach how to be responsible motorcycle riders. You can pick up their DVDs or online materials from Jerry “Motorman” Palladino, Kevin Morris’s “M-C Rider”, and “Dan Dan The Fireman”

You’ll be surprised how much you can learn from these pros. They can make almost anyone a smarter and safer rider. You should seriously consider them.

Those are just a handful of unique ideas for people in your life. Hopefully the items on this list help you out. Do you have any suggestions to add?

Leave them in the comments below and tell us what you think!
